The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Lab Technician to work in Prof. Emilio Palomares research group. This position will be funded by the project ELECTROVOLT PID2022-139866NB from the Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación.

ICIQ is looking for a Lab Technician to work in Prof. Emilio Palomares’ group on the organic synthesis and characterization of materials with optoelectronic properties of interest for solar cells.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
· Synthesis of small organic molecules following established laboratory protocols.
· Characterization of molecular properties using various techniques such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS), thermal gravimetric analysis, cyclic voltammetry, and UV-visible and fluorescence absorption spectroscopy.
· Presentation of results in technical reports and group seminars.
· Attendance at group seminars and discussion of results with other researchers.
Requirements:
· Degree/Master in organic chemistry, materials science or related disciplines obtained during the last three years after completing said degree.
· Strong background in the synthesis of organic molecules and in the characterization techniques.
· Research experience in a lab environment.
Valued qualities:
· The candidate must be highly motivated and able to work in a team environment.
This position will allow the candidate to obtain professional practice appropriate to the level and subject of studies obtained.
ICIQ will create an individual training plan specifying the content of the professional internship and will assign a tutor within the research group who has the appropriate training or experience to monitor the plan and correctly comply with the object of the training contract.
We Offer:
· One year training contract.
· Remuneration according to individual’s qualification/experience
· Annual salary split into twelve monthly payments.
· Incorporation: July 2026.

Selection Process
ICIQ’s selection process usually entails the following phases:
· Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise as reflected on the candidates’ CVs.
· Interview & practical exercise: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and the appointed Selection Committee. The interview will include a practical scientific glass blowing exercise at ICIQ.
· Offer Letter: Once the successful candidate is selected, the People Unit will extend a Job Offer, specifying the start day, salary and overall job conditions.
