The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Project Communications Technician. This position will be partially funded by the STREAM-ICIQ project, reference GPE2024-001431-P, funded by MCIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033.
ICIQ is one of the world’s internationally recognized leading institutions in the field of chemistry committed to solving major social and economic challenges by conducting top quality research in three main areas: Sustainable Catalysis, Renewable Energies and Molecular medicine. The Research Projects and International Collaborations (RPIC) Unit was created in 2014 along with the start of the European Horizon 2020 framework program, with the main objective of increasing the Institute's participation in competitive calls and the number of research projects granted. The project communications technician will be part of the unit, giving support to the dissemination and communication actions of key ICIQ projects and supporting the preparation of other competitive proposals. The communications technician will mainly focus on implementing actions described in the Communication and Dissemination work package of European projects. This position will play a key role in ensuring that projects achieve their communication and dissemination goals as well as involving relevant stakeholders and participate in science policy related actions.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the dissemination and communication (D&C) activities from current and future competitive projects, especially those led by ICIQ. This includes responsibility for the implementation, evaluation and reporting of all the D&C activities.
- Write press releases, respond to media queries, be in charge of the production of supporting communication materials (e.g. leaflets, newsletters, infographics), website and social media updates.
- Participate in the drafting of project deliverables.
- Promote awareness of projects results and attract stakeholders’ interest in the project.
- Build relationships with active members in the science and policy ecosystem, including research organisations, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Support the RPIC Unit at ICIQ with the writing of competitive proposals.
- Support ICIQ researchers to better communicate their research results to policy makers, journalists and the general public.
Requirements:
- Degree in a scientific discipline or in journalism or related degrees with experience in science communication.
- Advanced level of English and Catalan (written and spoken) is required.
- Knowledge of web and social media content development
- Knowledge in graphic design tools to produce materials such as flyers, social media banners, rollups, etc.
- International experience.
- Team working skills.
- Excellent communication and networking skills.
- Proactive and enthusiastic personality.
- Availability to travel within Europe.
Valued qualities:
- Previous experience, at least two years, in the dissemination and communication tasks of European projects.
- Advanced user of Sharepoint or other collaborative platforms.
- Video recording and editing skills
- Knowledge of European policy and advocacy, and the European research funding programs
- Awareness of CERCA centers and the Catalan and Spanish research system.

Selection Process
ICIQ’s selection process usually entails the following phases:
- Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise as reflected on the candidates’ CVs. This phase is merit-based.
- Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and the appointed Selection Committee.
- Offer Letter: Once the successful candidate is selected, the People Unit will extend a Job Offer, specifying the start day, salary and overall job conditions.
