The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Support Technician. This position will be funded by the project CNS2023-144372.
ICIQ is one of the world’s internationally recognized leading institutions in the field of chemistry committed to solving major social and economic challenges by conducting top quality research in three main areas: Sustainable Catalysis, Renewable Energy and Health. ICIQ is looking for a Support Technician to work in the group of Prof. Jordi Burés.
Responsabilities:
- Perform mechanistic studies and catalyst development.
- Laboratory group tasks.
- Produce high-quality research reports and publications.
- Lead and participate in both individual and collaborative research projects.
- Prepare detailed reports and forward-planning documents.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and applications for external funding.
- Apply creative problem-solving to analyze, interpret, and derive insights from research data.
Requirements
- A strong background in organic chemistry and/or catalysis.
- Knowledge of techniques used to monitor reactions such as NMR, IR, HPLC, and GC.
- Proficient in English (written and spoken).
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong motivation for the project.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to drive the project forward.
Valued qualities:
- Highly motivated, ambitious and enthusiastic.
- Expertise in physical organic chemistry.
- Strong journal publication record.
We offer:
- A full-time employment contract linked to the project CNS2023-144372 ending on 30/06/2026.
- Remuneration according to the Institute salary scales.
- Annual salary split into twelve monthly payments.
- Incorporation: February 2025.

Selection Process
ICIQ’s selection process usually entails the following phases:
- Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise as reflected on the candidates’ CVs. This phase is merit-based.
- Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and the appointed Selection Committee.
- Offer Letter: Once the successful candidate is selected, the People Unit will extend a Job Offer, specifying the start day, salary and overall job conditions.
