The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Support Technician. This position will be funded by the project CNS2023-144372.

ICIQ is looking for a Support Technician to work in the group of Prof. Jordi Burés.

Responsabilities:

• Perform mechanistic studies and catalyst development.

• Laboratory group tasks.

• Produce high-quality research reports and publications.

• Lead and participate in both individual and collaborative research projects.

• Prepare detailed reports and forward-planning documents.

• Assist in the preparation of proposals and applications for external funding.

• Apply creative problem-solving to analyze, interpret, and derive insights from research data.

Requirements

• A strong background in organic chemistry and/or catalysis.

• Knowledge of techniques used to monitor reactions such as NMR, IR, HPLC, and GC.

• Proficient in English (written and spoken).

• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

• Strong motivation for the project.

• Ability to work independently and take initiative to drive the project forward.

Valued qualities:

• Highly motivated, ambitious and enthusiastic.

• Expertise in physical organic chemistry.

• Strong journal publication record.

We offer:

• A full-time employment contract linked to the project CNS2023-144372 ending on 30/06/2026.
• Remuneration according to the Institute salary scales.
• Annual salary split into twelve monthly payments.
• Incorporation: February 2025.

Selection Process

ICIQ’s selection process usually entails the following phases:

• Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise as reflected on the candidates’ CVs. This phase is merit-based.
• Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and the appointed Selection Committee.
• Offer Letter: Once the successful candidate is selected, the People Unit will extend a Job Offer, specifying the start day, salary and overall job conditions.
