The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to work in Prof. Emilio Palomares’ research group. This position will be funded by the ERC Advanced Grant EXCITED.
ICIQ is committed to performing excellent research at the frontier of knowledge in the broad area of chemistry (Catalysis, Artificial Photosynthesis, Activation of Small Molecules, Photovoltaics, Functional Molecular Assemblies and Chemical Biology, from either theoretical or experimental perspectives). ICIQ is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work in Prof. Emilio Palomares’ research group to prepare dye-sensitised solar cells (DSSC). This project is funded by the ERC Advanced Grant “Engineering Excited States, Orbital Coupling and Quantum Coherence Phenomena in Photoelectrochemical Energy Conversion Devices” (EXCITED).
Responsibilities
- Synthesis of metal oxides by standard laboratory procedures.
- Fabrication of dye sensited solar cells by standard laboratory procedures including screen printing and dip coating
- Characterization of the structure and electrooptical properties of the materials and films.
- Analysis of the performance of the cells by JV curves under light and dark, and (electro)spectroscopic techniques ranging from femtoseconds to seconds.
- Writing technical reports and drafts for submission as papers about the obtained results.
- Presentations of the results in conferences and technical meetings
Requirements
- PhD in Chemistry
- Background in the fabrication of dye sensitised solar cells is mandatory.
- Knowledge of spectroscopic characterization techniques.
- Familiarity with the measurements of fluorescence decay lifetimes, IV curves and degradation studies.
Valued qualities
- Team player.
- Background in the synthesis and characterization of metal oxides.
- Experience in organic synthesis.
We offer
- A 3-year full-time employment contract.
- Remuneration according to individual’s qualifications/experience.
- Annual salary split in twelve monthly payments.
